In a recent order, The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has held that public financial institutions, foreign institutional investors, banks or venture capital funds acquiring shares of public listed companies through on-market transactions and not pursuant to loan or investment agreements would be required to file a notice and seek approval of the CCI.
