The Bombay High Court has been in existence for over 150 years, but little is known about how the court functioned during the colonial era. Abhinav Chandrachud, an advocate at the Bombay High Court, examines the lives of 83 Indian and British judges to bring to light how the court operated under original and appellate jurisdiction during its 80 years under the British Raj. His latest book, ‘An Independent Colonial Judiciary’, aims to unravel everything from the changes that took place in Indian society to the impact the colonial era had on the legal profession and on the Bombay High Court.
