Hello & welcome to the final show in our pre-budget series. We started by stating the 3 dilemmas facing Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

He needs to boost investment, consumption and yet raise revenue and demonstrate fiscal responsibility
He needs to start reducing the number of industry specific incentives towards a simpler tax code and yet provide tax support for key government policies like 'Make In India’ And he needs to expand the tax paying base but without upping tax aggression

So far, our tax experts have told us the budget will be about several small tax policy changes, not big ideas. Small but important changes like rationalizing MAT, extending the investment allowance, incentivizing infrastructure. the ‘Make in India’ conversation keeps coming back to tax zone policy. Revive SEZs, kick off domestic manufacturing zones, and provide tax holidays…one guest said in perpetuity! Today the final question we pose is this- how will the finance minister expand the tax paying base without increasing tax aggression? To answer that, CNBC-TV18’s Menaka Doshi speaks to Rupak Saha of GE, Rohan Shah of ELP and Daksha Baxi of Khaitan.
